With today's development on the internet, it opens for big opportunities for the predators. Internet has become a simple tool for finding what they want. With the internet, they hide themselves behind a monitor and pretending to be a completely different person. An example can be that a 50-year-old man pretending to be an 18-year-old boy, so he can get contact with younger girls, and widens to meet younger people. This is why young people must be careful to have contact with unknown persons. There are too many unrecorded cases.
The problem with the online predators is unfortunately too big for the police too handle. The police catch many of the predators, but unfortunately not all of them. It would take a long time and many resources to capture online predators for the police.
The Internet can also be used for harassing. Some people are posting pornographic pictures / videos of other humans. This can be incredible harmful for the victim who has been violated by pornographic pictures/videos on the internet.
The reason for this is that the victim most likely would struggle mentally with this later. To publish these types of pictures / videos online has sadly become a new bullying trend.
Online Abuse and digital violence can be:
• Harassing and ugly messages posted online
• Threats or coercion through messages about the proliferation of images and movies
• Monitoring and control at mobile phone or social media
• Being exposed to a sexual language or to receive photos and movies with a sexual or violent content
• Being pressured to do sexual acts in front of a webcam, posing, stripping, and having intercourse or similar actions
• Switching and selling sexual services

Kacie
In 2002, 13-year old Kacie met David in a Christian chat room. David, age 47, told Kacie that he was 18. They courted for a bit, but Kacie fell in love with another boy and broke up with Dave. One night when Kacie was home alone, David had come into her house, covered her face with a choloroform-soaked rag, and dragged her into a minivan. David drove to Kacie’s home and stalked Kacie before the abduction. He knew when she got home from school, when her father left for work, and when she would be at home alone. Kacie’s friends were worried about Kacie giving out information freely to people that she had met on the Internet and even spoke to a counselor at school about their concern. It was too late in Kacie’s situation. David took Kacie to a storage unit, raped and killed her, before turning a gun on himself.
Kristin
In 2007, parents of 14-year old Kristin found her hanging from the rafters in her room. She had committed suicide after a disgruntled relationship with her online predator. After discovering that Kristin had a social networking site, Kristin’s mother Danielle took Kristin’s computer away. What her mother didn’t know was that she had already started a relationship with 27 year-old Kylie Bowers. She had met him at a motel. Bowers sexually assaulted her and then left back home. Kristin sunk into a deep depression from the abuse and chose to end her life. Bowers was sentenced to 9 years in prison for his actions.
